Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 16th June 2025
at The Deer Park, Maker Lane, Hoar Cross
Present: Cllr Mrs Smith, Cllr Mrs Baxter, Cllr Mrs Prince, Cllr Mrs Patterson, Cllr Marsden
Miss E Goodwin (Parish Clerk), Jamie Richards
Cllr Mrs Smith welcomed everyone to the Meeting.

3 Declarations of Interest
Cllr Marsden is waiting the hear about the Planning Application for Primrose Cottage, Newchurch
Road.

The Minutes were signed as a true representation of the Meeting.
5 Matters arising not covered on the Agenda
Cllr Mrs Baxter proposed Cllr Mrs Patterson as Cllr responsible for roads; seconded by Cllr Mrs
Prince; carried.
- Jamie Richards, AED
Jamie explained how he had started AED eleven years ago and they now have 7,000 defibrillators in place. AED will Fund, Install, Register, Maintain the defibrillator; the defibrillator is in a polycarbonate cabinet with a fused spur; the company offers face to face and Zoom training; the defibrillator is deployed 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The cabinet can be permanently lit; the electricity costs are about £11.00 pa. The defibrillator is portable and can be taken to the patient within a 500m radius.
It was agreed to purchase the defibrillator costing £1799, plus £99 pa running costs; the box needs to be checked once a week. Jamie will send information about fund raising.
Cllr Mrs Smith is waiting to hear from The Meynell about putting a defibrillator on one of their walls.

9 Parish Councillors Reports
- Highways – Cllr Mrs Patterson commented that the shallow potholes on Brakenhurst Hill are probably not big enough to be filled yet. Cllr Marsden has collected a number of signs left from when roadworks have been done, and he will arrange for them to be collected.
- Environment – Cllr Mrs Prince had nothing to report.
- Footpaths – Cllr Marsden had encountered a herd of buffaloes on the footpath in a field towards Hamstall Ridware; the Clerk was asked to contact Hamstall Ridware Parish Council
10 County Councillor Brown’s Report
Cllr Brown had emailed to say she had met Cllr George and Phil Murphy, Managing Director at Hoar
Cross Hall to discuss the ‘Maker Lane’ sign outside the Hall; footpath maintenance between the Hall
and the Church (she will discuss it with Highways); water damage to the Hall wall on Maker Lane (she
will ask Highways if the gulleys are on their maintenance schedule); people speeding as they leave
the Hall – the Hall have agreed to put up a sign reminding people to drive slowly and carefully when they
leave.

12 PCSO Leathers/PCSO Siwek’s Report
PCSO Leathers had emailed to say he is now covering the area, along with PCSO Siwek.
13 Parish Clerk’s Report
The Clerk had applied to the Cllrs Community Fund for a grant, but the Parish Council is not eligible; she
made a request for the Registers of Interest.
14 Finances
The bank reconciliation and expenses spreadsheet had been circulated.
It was agreed to pay the PCC £487.13, which is half of the costs of the upkeep of the Churchyard for

The Audit was approved and signed.
16 Best Kept Village update – Cllr Mrs Smith
Cllr Mrs Smith will organise a village clean up.
Cllr Mrs Prince thanked Bridget and Rachel Knight for painting the speedgates on Maker Lane.
It was agreed to remove this item from the Agenda.
17 Land opposite The Meynell
It was agreed that the area is in good condition; Cllr Mrs Baxter commented that the sign will look good
when the work has been completed
18 Correspondence
There was no correspondence.
19 Members Points of Information
The Clerk had circulated information regarding .gov.uk email addresses; Cllr Marsden will compare the
costs from different suppliers.
It was agreed to contact local businesses regarding a donation towards the cost of the defibrillator once
a site had been agreed for its installation.
