Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 13th May 2019
at the Church of the Holy Angels
Present: Cllrs Bott, Fleet and Major, Cllr Mrs Prince
Miss E Goodwin (Parish Clerk) and two members of the public
Cllr Bott chaired the Meeting
In the recent Parish Council elections, four Councillors had stood; as there was a vacancy, Cllr Bott proposed that Mrs Helen Sherwood be co-opted onto the Council; this was carried.

3 Matters arising not covered on the Agenda
Cllr Fleet confirmed that the petition against HS2 had been submitted.
4 Parish Councillors Reports
Highways Cllr Bott is chasing the ‘Not suitable for HGVs’ signs for Thorney Lanes.
Cllr Mrs Sherwood confirmed that the speed gates on Thorney Lanes are going
ahead.
The Parish Clerk confirmed that County Cllr Jessell is sending posters regarding horse riders.
Planning Cllr Major
a) Applications received P/2018/00445 extension of existing menage and
associated post and rail fencing at Birchwood House, Abbots Bromley Road – there were no objections
P/2019/00269 erection of a two storey side extension, part two storey, part single storey extension, erection of a detached garage, entrance gates and relocation of access at Ravensnest Cottage, Newchurch Road – there were no objections
b) Applications approved P/2018/00123 removal of trees at Church Cottage,
Maker Lane
P/2018/01310 retention of stables and continued use of land as equestrian for cross country jumping practice at Birchwood House, Abbots Bromley Road
c) Applications refused
d) Other planning matters P/2017/00342 conversion of an agricultural building to
form a farm shop and café at The Deer Park, Maker Lane
ES.19/02/504 consolidation of previous planning permissions – there were no objections as British Gypsum do not mine beneath residential areas
Environment Cllr Mrs Prince The bins had not been emptied the previous week; Cllr Mrs Prince is following it up
Footpaths Cllr Mrs Sherwood The footpaths are in good order; the stiles have been painted and the signs cleaned
5 Parish Clerk’s Report
The Clerk had met Alan Toplis; the Audit was approved, and will be signed off at the next Parish Council Meeting. She distributed letters from Alan Toplis, which will be discussed at the next Parish Council Meeting.
6 Finance
The Bank Reconciliation was approved, and the following cheques were issued:

*The Clerk had been advised by Alan Toplis to reissue two out of date cheques (748 and 773) to Hoar Cross Hall.
The Parish Clerk is to add the new speed gates; the new bin on Maker Lane had been supplied by ESBC and so does not need to be insured.
7 Annual Parish Meeting – Monday 13th May
The Parish Clerk had made extra copies of the Budget sheet and Expenses sheet for the attendees; Cllr Fleet will give an update about HS2.
8 Correspondence
The Parish Clerk had forwarded the Register of Interest; two completed forms were returned.
